Here are my ten favourite TV shows from 2019. As usual, this list comes with the caveat that this list is subjective and is limited to only the shows I watched, which definitely isn’t everything.
10. Dead to Me
Synopsis: A series about a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret.

9. The Mandalorian
Synopsis: The travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.
Now streaming on: Disney+
Future of Show: Second season ordered, expected in 2020.
8. Big Little Lies
Synopsis: The apparently perfect lives of upper-class mothers, at a prestigious elementary school, unravel to the point of murder when a single-mother moves to their quaint Californian beach town.
Now streaming on: Crave/HBO
Future of Show: Nothing planned, though the cast is open to it.
7. Russian Doll
Synopsis: A cynical young woman in New York City keeps dying and returning to the party that’s being thrown in her honor on that same evening. She tries to find a way out of this strange time loop.
Now streaming on: Netflix
Future of Show: Second season ordered, no known release date.
6. The Good Place
Synopsis: Four people and their otherworldly frienemy struggle in the afterlife to define what it means to be good.
Now streaming on: Netflix (Seasons 1-3)/NBC app (Season 4)
Future of Show: The current (fourth) season is the final season.
5. Silicon Valley
Synopsis: Follows the struggle of Richard Hendricks, a Silicon Valley engineer trying to build his own company called Pied Piper.
Now streaming on: Crave/HBO
Future of Show: The sixth season was its final season.
4. Barry
Synopsis: A hit man from the Midwest moves to Los Angeles and gets caught up in the city’s theatre arts scene.
Now streaming on: Crave/HBO
Future of Show: Third season ordered, expected in 2020.
3. Fleabag
Synopsis: A comedy series adapted from the award-winning play about a young woman trying to cope with life in London whilst coming to terms with a recent tragedy.
Now streaming on: Amazon Prime/BBC
Future of Show: The second season was the final planned season, though the shows creator isn’t opposed to revisiting these characters in 10-20 years.
2. I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson
Synopsis: In this new sketch show, Tim Robinson and guests spend each segment driving someone to the point of needing — or desperately wanting — to leave.
Now streaming on: Netflix
Future of Show: Second season ordered, expected in 2020.
1. Watchmen
Synopsis: Set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name, while attempting to break new ground of its own.
Now streaming on: Crave/HBO
Future of Show: This is a stand-alone season, with no planned visitations back into this universe.
