Tuesday’s Top Tasty Tracks
Berlin – Bear’s Den
Although I show a lot of people music that I find, my little sister is actually the one who showed me these guys just yesterday. It took me a little while to get into them, but this song is really great. The guitar work is absolutely beautiful, and although the lead singer is not the best singer, he creates a raw honesty in his words and style. This guy is a true storyteller in his lyrics. Vivid images This song builds throughout, adding soft brass about half way through the song which creates the most beautiful atmosphere. And then with one minute left, a subtle beat is added, creating another layer. It’s truly a work of art, and anybody who likes good music should check these guys out.

Heart.Beat.Here – Dashboard Confessional
Dashboard last released music in 2009 (!!), so this is long overdue. Chris has been playing this song live since June, but this week is the first we’re hearing of a recorded version. This song is a great taste of their return, containing the same lyrical content that we’ve grown to love from Dashboard. Dashboard grew in popularity in the emo era, and it’s evident they haven’t strayed far from that beginning. This is your classic love song, with cheesy lyrics that would only fit in a Dashboard song. Give it a spin, because it’s a great song.

Recess – Golden Coast
Although this song was released about 3 months ago as a single, the EP just got released this week, and I thought it was a great opportunity to showcase an incredible up-and-coming electro-pop duo. As you can probably guess from the name, these guys come from Cali, and the vibes match the name. This song screams summer, and makes this winter a little bit brighter. The song is a great little play on the desire for recess to come when you were in school all those years ago, and how we still kind of want that. The entire song is very catchy, and you’ll definitely find yourself hitting the replay button a few times.

Make Your Move – Hearts Like Lions
HLL signed to Tooth and Nail Records last year and released a great EP. This is a new single (presumably off their upcoming debut) that shows great growth, even just from last year. As soon as the song starts, the syncopation of 3/4 time signature stands out. It’s original and fresh. The vocalist really jumps out at the chorus, with quiet harmonies backing him up. It’s a solid song from start to finish, and displays that each member of the band knows what they’re doing on their respective instruments and won’t settle for the same strum pattern over and over. If you like this, I strongly suggest you check out their EP from last year.
